tedium time.

its that time of year again-exams!a time for students to give it their best shot.i hope all my students do well.i am bothered about those who are capable but throw it all away without much thought.of late i get this feeling from my students that they don't give too much importance to academics.its the job that matters at the end of the day.i guess it does matter but academics matter too.believe you me,when least expected it comes in useful-the entire baggage-lessons,exams,marks.and don't be surprised if you were to miss it all.many students come back to say they miss the comforting routine that all these things represent.well do your best gals.ciao.

muddled mind

today had an interesting class with the final years.the topic was headline writing.when the class was first given the headline count they hardly comprehended but slowly acceptance came and they participated in it whole heartedly.there was hilarity and taunts seeing one another's blunders.a teacher always prefers a class that jells well together and humour is definitely a good bridge. i have a class with the jain college students on monday i am hoping that students out there show interest and acumen for the subject. i find a sense of lethargy in students maybe the system is getting to them.my sincere plea to them wake up capture the moment lest it passes you.catch you all later.ta da.

laugh out loud

had a small photo exhibition conducted by the second years.modest beginning indeed.long way to go.the deccan workshop is on tomorrow.professional ethics is the topic .i wonder who needs it more the students or we teachers.some of our tribe lack ethics--big time !the americans put it so beautifully.speaking of americans, the daily serial seinfeld is a real laugh riot.shows them quite capable of laughing at themselves.something that we indians really need to learn.we take ourselves and the world far too seriously.need to have a good sense of humour specially if its directed towards us.nah !i don't think i have the gumption.its a case of can dish it out but won't/can't take it .mores the pity.well, we live and learn.ta da,till next time.

time n tide

things are getting hectic at work.my procrastination has led to work being piled high.so many assignments to be corrected.test papers prepared for tomorrow.i guess i am poor at time management.how the mighty hath fallen.at home its the same story hardly any time for family.i wonder if this is the same with others too.its like a race that all of us are running.trying,but failing to reach the finishing line.i need to change before things go out of hand.god help me.i hope my students take a leaf out of my life and are able to be better at time management than i have been.ciao for now.

glass house lessons

just when i was having fun reading orcut the system played up and went bust.i was enjoying all the gossip and scandal with glee.woe begone am i.well i guess i shall get my chance later to enjoy vicarious pleasures.we humans are that way so similar.aching to be different yet just the same.i am no different than anybody.i get the same kicks as the next person. i remember a line from an old movie where the hero says in an innimical style 'underneath the clothes we are all naked'.so true.so what does that tell me? i should stop minimising my orcut pleasure.i may find unflattering remarks about myself what then ?well,i shall have to grin and bear it.cio for now.

movie magic

saw the movie chini kum .enjoyed it a great deal.thought tabu was etheral and charming.amithabh was of course outstanding.no wonder then that he is called the badshah of bollywood.the story line though not really unique was uniquely handled by the director. a must movie for avid watchers.another movie i saw was' guess who ' a hollywood production.a romantic comedy with ashton kutcher in the lead.how love wins the battle of wills between two generation forms the better part of the story.

of sense and sensitivity

completed one day of valuation.actually enjoyed it.is not that big a deal.let me tell my students i did not value our college scripts.the thing that struck me about valuation was a feeling of guilt.it is not easy giving a student poor grades.every time i did it i was besieged with a feeling of guilt.i hope i am able to handle the stress of valuation in a better fashion in the coming days.i remember telling my students once in the course of a journalism class that i made a poor professional journalist-i could'nt be professional enough.i guess i am too sensitive when it comes to the plight of others around.girls ,the next time i go on and on about being strong and controlled remind me of my frailities.thats it for now.bye.
